Council co-opts additional members

Two new council members were co-opted to BATA in September, adding additional expertise to the group responsible for running the Association.

Muzzamil Lakhani, who was the first disabled student to study physics at the University of Bristol, will take on responsibility for membership. Antony Ruck, has agreed to work on developing training and accreditation schemes for AT professionals.

A founder of the Fram3 and WhatAData technology start-ups, he has a comprehensive knowledge of assistive technology on Windows, Linux, Mac OS, iOS and Android platforms.

His credits include the design of a website with an accessible drop down menu to work with mouse and touch in CSS3 to allow faster loading and a complete bypass of JavaScript. He was one of the first participants in the beta testing of the social network Google Plus, during his internship with Google, London.

Antony has worked in the AT industry for over 15 years at senior management level, working with manufacturers, publishers and service providers to deliver products and customer experience.

His roles have allowed him to develop skills and relationships across the sector, and he has been elected to represent value-added-suppliers and manufacturers at many stakeholder events and working groups.

Now working as a freelance AT industry consultant at Archent Consultancy, Antony now provides information, advice and guidance on service delivery, operations, commercial development, sales and marketing, and event management.
